Therapy Agreement

Important Information: Read Our Terms and Conditions

Please carefully read and note the following

All sessions, including the initial consultation, are subject to these terms and conditions.

Overview

By booking and attending a As Minds Fly treatment session all clients are acknowledging and agreeing to the following Statements, Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy:

That clients are aware of the types of therapy they will be receiving (hypnosis and/or EMDR), including their purpose, methods and possible effects and that they understand and consent in full to this. That they understand that the treatment may be brought to an end at any time and that success of the treatment depends on the client’s ability to relax and desire to create change in themselves. Clients also understand that as part of the treatment we may be accessing painful memories and emotions with the intention of re-processing these so some short terms discomfort may be possible and on rare occasions this may temporarily lead to higher emotionality for a time after the session. So, please do not schedule important appointments or long working hours immediately following a treatment session.

For hypnotherapy/EMDR  to work it requires commitment and motivation on the side of the client hence we cannot guarantee results. People react differently to hypnosis/EMDR and other therapeutic treatments so results may vary from person to person.

Any recordings or downloads from As Minds Fly or received from this practice should never be used while operating heavy machinery, driving, or performing tasks which require concentration.

Age. Clients under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Not a medical substitution. You understand that hypnotherapy/EMDR, or any other therapy provided, is not a replacement for medical treatment, psychological or psychiatric services or the appropriate counselling. You also understand that the therapist does not treat, prescribe for, or diagnose any medical or mental health condition.

Success achievement. We agree to work together to address the issues presented by you (the client). Because of the individual nature of the treatment, no guarantee of a cure can be given. The therapist agrees to use their best efforts and skills to work towards relief and the achievement of agreed therapeutic goals.

You (the client) understand that hypnotherapy/EMDR is a collaborative process and the degree of progress is dependent on your engagement in the process. You understand that there are no guarantees offered and that success depends on your active participation and motivation. You understand that you are paying for the therapist’s time and not for a guarantee of success.

Keeping appointments. Once session times are booked, they should be kept to. However, in the event that a scheduled session needs to be changed, you, the client, and the therapist agree to provide each other with 48 hours’ notice. Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in you being liable for a fixed fee of £80 for face to face sessions and £25 for online sessions.

Referral or refusal. The therapist has the right to terminate the therapeutic relationship and refer you to other specialists if they consider your case is outside their area of expertise.

Termination. This agreement may be terminated mutually at any time between both parties. The client understands that the therapist may terminate this agreement at any time if the client fails to pay for the services provided under this agreement or if the client breaches any other material provision listed in this contract. The client agrees to pay any outstanding balances within 14 days of termination.

Standards of Behaviour. During the course of any therapy sessions, I will treat you with respect and not abuse the trust you place in me. I will use best practice at all times in our mutual interest. In return, you undertake not to harm yourself, or any other person, including me, or any property belonging to either me or any other person.

You agree not to attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, except those medications which have been prescribed by your doctor. If you do attend any sessions under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, or demonstrate violent or abusive behaviour, I will cancel the session and may refuse to see you for any further therapy sessions.

Concerns & Complaints. I adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). If you have a concern or complaint regarding your therapy, please discuss this with myself in the first instance and I will endeavour to resolve the issue. In the unlikely event that your issue is not resolved, you can also access the GHR and CNHC complaints procedure, details of which are published on their websites. The work offered is undertaken in accordance with the laws of the practitioner’s own country (UK).

Liability. Except in the case of gross negligence or malpractice, the client and their representative(s) agree to fully release and hold harmless As Minds Fly and all practitioners associated with As Minds Fly from and against any and all claims or liability of whatsoever kind or nature arising out of or in connection with the session(s) given.
